Response: The following In-Store Certification (formerly Level III Certification) process has been approved by USDA to be used by Texas WIC EBT for revisions in the WIC food packages system changes. Electronic Cash Register (ECR) systems requiring base code changes and ECR systems utilizing the modified base code plus additional enhancements will be required to complete a Lab Certification (formerly Level II Certification) and an In-Store Certification. Lab Certifications will test existing functionality as well as new functionality required for the implementation of the revisions in the WIC food packages. In-Store Certifications will be conducted to validate the viability of lab-certified ECR systems in a live environment. In-Store Certifications will be conducted by WIC staff. Self Service In-Store Certifications will not be permitted. WIC staff will complete an In-Store Certification on a minimum of one (1) store for each modified EBT ECR system.
