A “normal” range of when children begin speaking is somewhere between 10 months and 3 years. No need to worry, yet.

I would just keep working with him talk talk talking will always help but a doc visit will not hurt. He could just not be ready yet. I would make an appt just because I have been around kids my whole life and have never come near one the age of a year and a half and not tryin to talk. my son is almost 6 months and says hi mamama dadada hello yellow blue and lala. all kids have there own times though.

my daughter is now 2 years and 4 months old, she started talking late the age of 2. just wait for 3-5 months and your brothers son will lsoon earn to speak.
