At installation, what is the spacing required between SBC shingles?

0

The necessary spacing varies according to shingle’s moisture content and weather conditions at installation. Our natural shingles contain 20% to 25 % moisture, and our kiln-dried and factory-stained shingles contain about 10% to 12% moisture. Due to this variance, spacing for both types of shingles will be different. We must take into consideration that natural shingles will shrink after installation, while kiln-dried and factory-stained ones will expand. As a general rule, a space of 1/16’’ (0.15 cm) is required for natural shingles and 1/8’’ to 1/4’’ (0.3 to 0.6 cm) for kiln-dried and factory-stained shingles.
