Assuming that chicken and fish are good for you, and red meat is bad for you, where does pork fall on the scale?
The idea that red meat is bad for you is unwarranted. Too MUCH red meat is bad for you, and Americans do eat too much red meat. Meat of all sorts is very good for you, in moderation. It’s got a lot of protein, and a good balance of proteins at that. (It’s very hard to get the right proteins on a vegan diet, though not impossible.) It’s got a lot of other vitamins and minerals that you need. The problem with red meat is that it’s very high in fat, and saturated fat at that, with plenty of cholesterol. White-meat chicken and fish is lower in fat, which means fewer calories in relation to how much protein you’re getting. Pork used to have just as much fat as red meat, and the pork producers put their pigs on diets. They reduced the fat in pork by 25%, which is astonishing, and that’s why they linked pork to the “white meat” chicken, which is also very low in fat. But pork retains plenty of cholesterol, and what fat is in there is mostly saturated. In fact, pork has a bit more cholesterol
