I think if people turn their attention to Mexico, and see how labor is undervalued over there, how people’s salaries are very low, they would see why Mexicans are coming here in large numbers. I understand that costs of living is less in Mexico than in the US, but it’s not small enough to be even with the low salaries. Then you have Carlos Slims becoming the richest man in the world over there. It just seems awfully similar to America’s Industrial Revolution, where workers are underpaid and under protected, while the big monopolistic corporation owners are gluttonously rich. Mexico is a developing nation, but with the drug wars going on, one must wonder what the country is developing towards. As for the Arizona law, I don’t think it’s going to accomplish much, but it’s a start. I don’t think it’s going to get very far since it requires the entire nation to secure the border, otherwise immigrants can simply go to other states without the same laws.
