The IRS requires TIAA-CREF obtain the signed Federal Tax Withholding Election form W-4P before completing the process. Generally, upon receipt of notice that the QDRO has been issued by the court, payments will be put on hold, and the process to divide them implemented. After implementation the benefits will be released for receipt by the first of the month unless otherwise specified.
