As SG president, how can I improve relations with officers and senators?
Summary: Because our previous Student Government president had to focus on issues such as finding a new university president and overseeing a building program, the workings of SG kind of fell to the wayside, which I understand. However, most of the members of my SG do not like change and bringing about reforms will be somewhat hard. For example, two of my five officers were my opponents in the presidential election and hard feelings may exist with them and with some of their supporters who are senators. Along with our great advisor, I think that a pre-semester workshop with our officers is needed along with one for senators once school begins. The question is, how should we structure these so that the members are not upset by change, because this will be a new thing (i.e., types of topics, ideas, etc)? Also, how should I go about working to ensure that there is peace and harmony while still making sure that I am able to do the things which I campaigned on and are needed for our school?
