Answer It may prevent pimples and little scabs on Schnauzers if you strip rather than clip, but honestly, a good scrubbing bath and prescription shampoo is the best thing. I feel like stripping can be painful to the dog, it causes bleeding if the sores are not ready to be stripped, and it won’t help those areas that dont’ get stripped that some dogs get the skin problems, like the feet or in the skirting area. So I recommend a good diet, a good shampoo from the vet and a fine flea comb to comb your pet and get the pores really clean. In addition, I have one customer whose dog was horribly broken out and his vet, in frustration, recommended selsun blue, which we use every other week with a good bath and scrub with a (people) bathing puff and he never did get the bumps anymore!
