No, once you have attended a recognised Buteyko training, there is no requirement for an annual “license”. One company operating under the name “ButeykoCenter” claim to have the patent and exclusive rights to Buteyko. As such they are demanding a license fee for the right of practitioners to teach the Buteyko Method. This group have no rights to demand payment from Buteyko practitioners; many of whom have been teaching the Buteyko Method for the past fifteen years. In addition, we understand that the “ButeykoCenter” have attempted to blacken the name of some existing Buteyko practitioners in order to force them to enter into a license agreement.
