I am very disappointed in Obama’s response to the crisis. I knew our governor wouldn’t respond because he works for the oil industry. Unfortunately, it appears our President is also beholden to the industry. I hope he proves that wrong. One good step would be to make Interior Secretary Salazar walk the plank for not breaking up the coziness between the industry and his minerals management people. The Louisiana Recovery Authority has $3 billion still unspent post Katrina, do you think any of these funds could be used to help environmentally protect Louisiana as the oil comes ashore? The only hope we have left is to make a major diversion of the Mississippi River. Basically destroying the east bank of the levee from below Belle Chase to the mouth would push a constant flow of fresh water against the oil flow and hopefully keep it offside. It would also rebuild our wetlands and cover over any oil that has made it ashore. The people left down there are screwed and need help anyway. Buy the
