No. A practitioner cannot issue a prescription to obtain controlled substances to be stored or dispensed at their laboratory location. Refer to the Ordering/Purchasing page for additional information. I am a researcher planning to work with Schedule I controlled substances. Do I need to obtain a separate State of Michigan controlled substance Schedule I research license and DEA researcher registration to store or conduct research with these agents? Yes. A State of Michigan controlled substance research license (Schedule I) and a DEA 225 researcher (Schedule I) registration are required. State licensing and DEA registration for Schedule I agents is separate and in addition to licensing and registration for Schedule II-V controlled substances.
