The value attributed to each share of Crescent Operating was $0.99 at the time of spin-off; therefore, your basis in each share of Crescent Operating is $0.99. Your basis in each share of Crescent is the price you paid for it, less return of capital distributions received. Return of capital information is reported on the 1099 Dividend Form each year.
