I recently introduced a group of peppermint shrimp to my aquarium. They were fine for a while, but one of them died last night from what I assumed to be stress due to the fact that I am switching from a 30 gallon to a 90 gallon aquarium and had to move my existing 30 gallon to a different room to make space for the larger aquarium, which I am about to begin cycling. I tried to keep the salinity level as close as possible, but it was a bit on the high end when I began because I hadn’t topped off the water knowing that I would be relocating it so soon. I made no more than .001 change or less from 1.024 down to about 1.023. I know shrimp are especially sensitive to changes, so when I found my peppermint shrimp on the bottom of the tank in the claws of my arrow crab I thought the crab just took advantage of the opportunity for a meal.
