ARGH! Can anyone explain the american school year names?!?
Kindergarten- Ages 5/6 1st grade- 6/7 2nd grade- 7/8 3rd grade- 8/9 4th grade- 9/10 Middle school: 5th grade- 10/11 6th grade- 11/12 7th grade- 12/13 8th grade- 13/14 High school 9th grade (Freshman)- 14-15 10th grade (Sophomore)- 15/16 11th Grade (Junior)- 16/17 12th grade (SENIOR)- 17/18 Then you’re done.
elementary school kindergarten 5-6 years old 1st grade 6 years old 2nd grade 7 years old 3rd grade 8 years old 4th grade 9 years old 5th grade 10 years old middle school 6th grade 11 years old 7th grade 12 years old 8th grade 13 years old high school 9th grade (freshman) 14 years old 10th grade (sophomore) 15 years old 11th grade (junior) 16 years old 12th grade (senior) 17-18 years old
Age five or six- Kindergarten Age six or seven- First Grade Age seven or eight- Second Grade Age eight or nine- Third Grade Age nine or ten- Fourth Grade Age ten or eleven- Fifth Grade Age eleven or twelve- Sixth Grade Age twelve or thirteen- Seventh Grade Age thirteen or fourteen- Eighth Grade Age fourteen or fifteen- Freshman (First year in High School) Age fifteen or sixteen- Sophmore (Second year in High School) Age sixteen or seventeen- Junior (Third year in High School) Age seventeen or eighteen- Senior (Fourth year in High School) “Grades” are like your “Years” in England. I know exactly how you feel; I have a friend from England and she confuses me with all of the school stuff. Hope I helped. Those are typically the ages for those grades.
Freshman- 14 grade 9 Sophomore- 15 grade 10 Junior- 16 grade 11 Senior- 17 grade 12 I actually graduate at 17 because my birthday is in July but i know people who graduate at 18 and i know someone in my grade who turns 19 in March. okay heres all the the grades Elementary: PreKindergarten [optional]- 4 Kindergarten- 5 1st grade- 6 2nd grade- 7 3rd grade- 8 4th grade- 9 5th grade- 10 Middle School: 6th grade- 11 7th grade- 12 8th grade- 13 High School 9th grade is Freshman year and then 10th is sophomore and 11th is junior and 12th is senior but i explained all that above. Some kids are a year older because of the time of year they are born. My cousin is 7 right now and he turns 8 the end of november but he is only going into 2nd grade because of that and same for my other cousin he is 4 he will be 5 in december but he cant start school until next year.
