Aren’t there federal rules on hauling horses to slaughter?

We think they’re worthless. Your federal government allows horses to be hauled non-stop for over 24 hours, with no food, water or rest, some with broken bones and missing eyes, in double-decker trailers. Federal regulations then require a six-hour stop, with the opportunity to rest, eat and drink. (Guess who defines “opportunity, rest, eat and drink”?) And, after the six hours, (Guess who monitors the clock?) the horses are usually past the U.S. border, and they’re hauled as long as it takes to the foreign slaughterhouse. The horses will soon be dead, nobody cares.
