Yes, the 278 and 278z transactions are used when there is “a request for the review of health care to obtain authorization for the treatment of health care; or a request to obtain authorization for referring an individual to another health care provider and the response to those requests.” Unum is not impacted by these transactions as Unum’s “covered products” do not require these types of authorizations.
