Aren Chiropractors (D.C.s) and Massage Therapists (LMTs) the same thing?

No. Massage Therapists are a very skilled and distinct profession, but are not doctors or physicians like chiropractors are. Massage Therapy training is typically 500-1000 clock hours of study in a massage therapy school after completing high school. Massage is very helpful in a lot of health conditions, especially if the condition has a muscle, circulation, or mobility-oriented problem. However, Massage Therapists do not diagnose, and cannot perform manipulation or adjustments. Massage therapy usually complements chiropractic care very nicely. Chiropractors are doctors. They must earn a Bachelor’s Degree prior to enrolling in Chiropractic College. Chiropractic College is 5 academic years in length or 4500 clock hours on top of the previously earned Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic capabilities, treat health problems; read labs, x-rays, MRI’s, and CT’s; and make referrals other professionals when deemed appropriate.
