Aren’t amphetamines dangerous?
We do not prescribe amphetamines casually nor do we ask you to take them casually. These medications have been around for many years and are all FDA approved. Be aware all medications have the potential for adverse reactions. It is our job to keep you informed, to screen you for any contraindications in advance and to identify any problems should they arise. Taking this class of medications involves making a decision as to RISK: BENEFIT ratio. The risks of taking amphetamines are far less than having diabetes or a heart attack from untreated obesity.
