Aren’t all financial planners and brokers the same?
Definitely not! Most stockbrokers are paid only when you buy or sell stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or annuities. A fee-only financial planner is paid an hourly rate, a percentage of investments managed, or an agreed-upon retainer. Many people call themselves “financial planners,” but few have earned rigorous credentials such as the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification.
