Aren 3G, EDGE and WiFi all the same thing?

No, they aren’t. 3G and EDGE transmit on totally different frequencies from WiFi and most phone company transmitters don’t have sufficient signal strength to penetrate the Chelsea Market building. Only one company does but that’s because they have booster transmitters inside the building itself. That’s why the WiFi transmitters were installed and made freely available for public use.
