Are young people between the age of 10-15 aware of the dangers of smoking?

Everyone is aware of the dangers of smoking, whether they are 4 or 44. However, the younger a person is, the more likely that person is to have the “it won’t happen to me” mentality. It all has to do with maturity. I started smoking when I was 14. I am almost 19 now and have been smoking almost three packs of cigarettes every day. I still have the “it won’t happen to me” mentality. I suppose fortunately for me, I have yet to experience any smoking-related problems. And until something does happen, I have no intention of quitting anytime soon. Also, most people start smoking because it is “cool.” As a young teenager, we are more likely to live “in the moment” rather than for the long-term. Smoking is cool now, but not later. But since we don’t care about what happens to us later, we continue to smoke, even with the overwhelming evidence of how dangerous cigarettes can be. Again, it all has to do with maturity.

i think most of them do but they want to look cool and dangerous like the bigger partying popular kids, they think for the right now and not the future i do think that some of them are very aware of the dangers and do care and dont want to do it to look cool they care about their health and look ahead in life, i also think that some kids have been around it for so long and have seen their parents smoke for so long that its just habbit to them and they dont realize how bad it is because they have become acustom to it
