Are you worried about water contamination at Camp Lejeune?
If you are worried about water contamination at Camp Lejeune, the Star-News invites you to come to the first national public forum on the issue at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 in Kenan Auditorium on the campus of the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The Star-News is hosting the forum to give civilians, former and retired Marines and Marine Corp families an avenue to discuss their questions about water contamination that occurred on the base of Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC from 1957 to 1987. Contaminants included industrial grease-dissolving solvents and dry cleaning solutions. The discussion will include panel presentations from a victim of the contamination, a representative from Sen. Elizabeth Dole’s office, a toxicologist, and an environmental law expert. The Star-News has also invited a Marine Corp representative and a member of the toxicology arm of the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta — the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.
