I have looked at the new heating and cooling load analysis function in Revit, and I have some comments. I know that Autodesk and their resellers would like me to try doing an analysis before passing judgement, but I know from looking at the required inputs (or lack thereof), that I will get inaccurate loads, and so it is not worth it to me to try a calc. The reason for the post is that I would like to know what engineers (consulting or A/E firm engineers only) have used the heating and cooling load analysis function satisfactorily. One thing I want to stress is that I think that the methodology for the calculations that Revit does is fine. The radiant time series method is an accurate way to calculate loads, and I have read Autodesk’s paper on how it calculates the loads. One of the main problems I have with it is that there is no way to input certain factors that can significantly affect the loads. The other problem I have is that some tasks have been practically eliminated, but other
