We made up one Christmas at the bottom of the stairs at (mogul) Marvin Davis’ party, about five years ago. They had an orchestra playing theme songs for people as they arrived. They did People for Barbra and Diamonds (Are a Girl’s Best Friend) for me. We both laughed and hugged each other. We’d been mad at each other all that time. Q: How many diamonds do you own? Are you jealous of Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry hoard? A: I don’t fool with diamonds anymore. When I tour, people give me little rings, $70 diamonds. It’s very cute. There’s a picture in my book of Elizabeth admiring my diamond ring. I think I got that one from a drag queen. Q: Whom do you admire? A: Goldie Hawn. I adore her. The one with the most sex appeal was George Burns. I toured with him for two years, about 1969, after Dolly. People said I kept getting too close to him on stage, but I couldn’t help it.
