I saw this yesterday, but hadn’t watched the final episode yet. Now that I have, I am amazed at how stressed he looked from the very beginning. It was as though he had no confidence. Stephenie was her usual cool self. And I have to say it: I love a woman with a list! She always had what appeared to be a very detailed list, and that is exactly how I plan and prep an important meal (now if only my results were as good as hers…I don’t have that part down, yet!). I wish that Richard had spent a bit less time on “molecular gastronomy” and a bit more time on thoughtful planning. If fine cooking is a true art, and I believe it is, then being in the “creativeflow” has to be almost as important as ingredients. Yet the left brain has to be functioning to execute, so I believe it must be a matter of achieving balance between the two hemispheres – the right brain to creatively create and imaginative and delicious meal, and the left brain to time everything exactly right.
