As a type 1 diabetic I am almost guarrented to die from swine flu, or H1N1 flu, if I get it, I live in MN and specifically live in Dakota County where one confirmed case is, and personally I do not fear this stupid epidemic. All this is, is a case of people over reacting over a flu strain that only has a 7% mortality rate, no worse than the yearly deaths caused by the flu. In the US alone over 33,000 people die each year from the flu virus, this specific strain has noly drawn attention because it is realtively new. There is no fear of contracting the virus as long as you do normal health related care, such as washing your hands and coughing/sneezing in your sleave. A mask cannot and will not protect you, because the H1N1 flu virus, just as any flu virus, is small and will easily penatrate the mask potenally causing infection.
