Well all I have to say is that my uncle had a 1982 SRV540 and it was the best running sled i have ever ridden. I got in a really really bad accident on it and everything was toast but that engine still purrs like a kitten (we have it in a go-kart). I have never had any problems with any of my Yamaha’s that wasn’t a typical wear item issue. I would say that buying a Yamaha is well worth it. Personally I would go with an Apex, just because they have the R1’s motor in it and they are insane.
