Are wraps lower in calories than traditional sandwiches, or just lower in carbs?
As always, portion size has a huge impact on calorie and nutrient content. One-ounce flatbreads and tortillas used for wraps often contain 70 to 90 calories, equal to one slice of bread. However, some wrap breads are two to three ounces and contain 110 to 160 calories. You also have to consider the fat content of the filling, and how much there is. In many restaurants, wraps may be close to double the calories of a low-fat sandwich on a small round or six-inch sub roll, because their fillings often include more mayonnaise, bacon and other high-fat ingredients.
