Are women today disobeying these Biblical Instructions ?
Why do people seem to have a problem with the Bible instructing women to dress modestly? There’s no reason at all for a woman to walk around in short-shorts that very nearly reveal her crotch and spaghetti strap tank tops that show everything except for her nipples. That is asking for men to objectify her as a sex symbol rather than a human being. I don’t think women need to walk around covered from head to foot, but a little modesty is a good thing. Let the men guess what color bra/panties we’re wearing, and what we look like naked. Leave something to the imagination. Anyway, to answer the question, yes, there are a lot of women who have decided there’s no need to dress with modesty. And as for the second part, that’s about unlearned women who are there to find out about Christianity. The original Greek implies that if a man has authority in a church, a woman is not to usurp that authority. Obviously, that was a problem in the early Christian church.
