Are wolves actually dangerous?
If you are a deer or a rabbit, then yes, wolves are very dangerous. If you’re a human, then no, wolves are not dangerous. There is no record of a healthy wolf ever attacking a human – all reports of ‘wolf attacks’, when investigated, have proved to be attacks by feral dogs, wolf-dog hybrids, or rabid wolves. They are extremely shy and wary of people, and will generally avoid us whenever possible. Wolves belong to the family Canidae, the dog family, and are the ancestors of the domestic dog. Some people even classify the domestic dog as a subspecies of wolf, but others consider dogs different enough to be classified as their own species. Whether or not you could buy a wolf depends on what country you’re in and whether you could provide adequate housing and care for it. You would also need a Dangerous Wild Animals license.
