Are Wills public records ?

0

Wills of living persons, which are held for safekeeping by the Register of Wills, are not public records. In the State of Maryland you may not review the Will of a living person if it is in the custody of the Register of Wills. Wills and probate records of deceased individuals are public records and may be reviewed in our office. Please note that we only have records for persons who were residents of Baltimore County, Maryland at the time of their death. If the person you are inquiring about was a resident of Baltimore County, you may call our Records Division at 410-887-6688 to determine if an estate exists. If the person was a resident of another county or Baltimore City, you will need to contact the Register in the county of residence. Telephone numbers for all Maryland Registers of Wills are posted on our website. Click HERE for an index.
