Are “White Fillings” as Good as “Silver Fillings”?
In most cases they are better! White fillings are made of composite materials with particles of various sizes. They are bonded into place using an intense bonding light and reach full strength immediately. Because they are bonded into place, the tooth reduction can be more conservative than with silver amalgam which must be packed into undercuts to hold it. In addition, white fillings expand and contract more like tooth structure thereby lessening the chance of cracks developing in the tooth.
