Are we really prisoners of a materialistic society? How so?
I’m more inclined t suggest that we are not so much physical prisoners, rather the illusion of a prison. I realised that on this day back in 1974 scientists warned us about activities that had the potential to damage the Ozone layer. As with that example the information is out there – people just chose to ignore the fact that many purchases are just not vital to our survival. Anything above basic food, basic clothing and basic shelter are just extras. & Yes I do have TV (obviously) computers & the like, but I know these are luxuries and if push comes to shove I know what I’ll sacrifice to keep food in my child’s stomach and suitable clothing on her back. Always shocks me to see people complaining about starving while obviously preferring to spend money on smoking, & wearing clothes under 2 years old. .
