Are we going to see more catastrophes like the Myanmar cyclone?

Yes. Just in my life time I have seen many. Reading and surfing the web it is easy to see this has been going on for a long time. I just finished a book called, “Isaac’s Storm” about a hurricane circa 1900 that killed several thousand in Texas. If anything, we are safer today because we can see these things coming with weather sattelites. Seems we still need to be able to warn people quicker. In other words, we have the technology to see something like the Myanmar cyclone coming but need better ways to get warnings to the people in peril. Hurricane Katrina was terrible but without the warnings the death toll would have been 10x higher. The evacuations for Mt St Helens probably saved countless lives. The United Nations should be screaming for such warning systems. What is wrong with our world leaders?
