Are Vlans more secure than VPN connections?
When looking at VLANs (Virtual LANs) and comparing them to VPNs (Virtual Private Networks), as far as security is concerned especially, I would have to say that they are two different things. A VPN is used to connect point A to point B in a secure and encrypted tunnel. So if your office in one city is connected to another office in a different city with a VPN in between, all of the traffic between those two sites is encrypted and thus safe from prying eyes while in transit. Once it reaches the office destination, and the termination point of the VPN, it is decrypted and thus usable again. It’s main function is that no-one on the Internet in between can capture your packets and read your data. As for VLANs, this is basically a way to logically segregate networks without actually physically segregating them with different switches. For example, at your office you can have all of the workstations or desktop computers in one network (VLAN) together (say 10.10.10.0/24) and still keep your s
