Are Van Halen still together?
The short answer: Yes, for now. The long answer: The band saw many ups and downs and has been on and off since 2000. Press releases say one thing, while the member’s behaviors says another. Constant re-releases, constant remasters, some live appearances, but to me; a band is “together” when they are recording and releasing albums. No doubt about it. The last real album they released was in 1998 called Van Halen III. They had a couple of singles in 2004. You go to the website, you see a bunch of promising stuff. You see some press releases about merchandise and such. But nowhere can you see that they will be releasing a real album anytime soon. They seem to be marketing a pair of sneakers lately, as a consolation prize, for those who were expecting a comeback. The type only devoted hardcore fans would wear, yet occasional fans like me do not see the point if I can’t wear them for their next tour.
