For the last few years CRI has been engaged in a battle to stop mandatory childhood vaccinations for sexually transmitted diseases. Legislators have been pushing to mandate the HPV vaccine for girls as young as 11. The proposed legislation requires any student who attends public school to receive this vaccine for an STD. Since school attendance is compulsory in California , parents are placed in the position of giving their children vaccines with dubious health protection. There are several vaccines for easily communicable diseases that are also mandatory before school attendance is permitted.
