Are vaccines given by the health department clinic free?
No. We are prohibited by law from gifting our resources. We charge the cost of the vaccine, plus costs associated with storage, administration, record-keeping, and counseling. In most cases a new traveler visit is $130 plus the cost of vaccines. The 2nd traveler to the same location may get a discount, very complex visits requiring coordination with your medical provider may cost more. Vaccine costs range from $30 to $140 each. Some vaccines must be given in a series of 2 or 3 injections before you are completely immunized. Depending on your travel destination you may receive a prescription for malaria medication and an antibiotic for travelers diarrhea. You will fill the prescriptions at a pharmacy of your choice.
