Are used VW Golfs in VW showrooms more expensive than from a private customer for what they are?
Cars sold by the dealers that sell themnew are always more expensive than private ones. For the extra money you get the protection of the sale of goods act and other regs concerning the sale which all but totally do not apply when buying private. Wherever you buy a car from the sale price private some time later is not affected so the difference and so the depreciation will be greater when buying from a dealer to sell privately later as compared to buying and selling privately. Remember that private cars are sold as seem and can go badly wrong just after purchase and you have no comeback on the seller.
