Are US Firearms Contributing to Drug Violence in Mexico?
~ Some firearms may be finding their way into Mexico, but not on the scale claimed by some US government officials. The firearms used in the wars between the drug cartels are not available for sale to private citizens in the US. The ATF has made claims that they have intercepted fully automatic rifles and hand grenades heading south to Mexico. A search for crimes committed with hand grenades turns up nothing since these items are not even available on our Black Market. Firearms used by the warring cartels are coming from the Mexico military and black markets in other countries. A full auto AK-47 can be purchased in Somalia for cost of a couple of chickens. The cartels have enough money to fund boatloads of weapons from Africa or the Middle East. Don’t be fooled by these lies.
