Are uniforms and military insignia provided?
New York Guard Band members are generally provided a basic field uniform (BDU), at no cost, depending on size availability at the time of enlistment. Because the New York Guard is a voluntary organization, members are generally expected to purchase their own berets, boots, and basic insignia (patches and pins), though many of these items may be purchased used, for very nominal cost. Dress (Class A) uniforms are often available for free; again, depending on size availability.
