Are under 18s allowed to trade the stock market?

You can own stocks at any age. They are assets. You cannot trade an account under 18 though, unless emancipated from your parents. With that said, you have tax liability on any profits recognized. If over a certain amount you are required to file a tax return. If still living with your parents, have them open the account in their name(s) in trust with you as beneficiary. 18 might seem like forever away, trust me, it’s not. I inherited some stock from a relative at 14 and sold it a few months later, so anyone who tells you you can’t is mistaken. Study up on taxes, by the time 18 comes you will be so far ahead of your peers, they’ll be kissing your kneecaps. The investment world is open to you, so don’t let the door close.
