Are UK gun laws really inconsistant or is the latest tinkering the aftermath of Cumbria?

That article is simply balderdash, the granting of a shotgun certificate (correct wording) is simple usage, game shooting or vermin control, age, previous good character and health is investigated. Firearms license (correct wording) is a little more complex, there are many individuals who are licensed to carry a firearm (pistol / semi automatic pistol) in the UK …. not all of them UK nationals, as far as other designated firearms such as shotguns that hold more than three cartridges or small bore rifles are concerned they are generally restricted to landowners or those involved in the control of vermin. larger calibre weapons such as hunting rifles for (say) deer are even more controlled. The odd thing about gun control in the UK is that the aristocracy / gentry have unfettered access to almost any weapon that they choose to own ………… and so do criminals! NOT SO THE HONEST CITIZEN!
