Are twin heifers always sterile?

0

Twin heifer calves are very seldom sterile. However, if a heifer calf is born twin to a bull calf, there is a high likelihood that the heifer calf is sterile. In utero, when a heifer is twin to a bull, there is some crossing-over in the blood and the male hormone, testosterone, causes problems in the development of the reproductive axis of the heifer calf causing it to be sterile.
