Are turtles/tortoises really good pets?

Turtles are good pets for the right people. They are dirty and they do need a lot of space. But they aren’t aggressive, at least mine isn’t. My turtle is very sweet and has never bitten. A 55 gallon tank won’t be big enough though. My Red Eared Slider turtle is in a 75 gallon and I wonder a lot if that is still too small. They are nice to watch and if you spend time with them they will let you pet their necks and such. They take a commitment so your really need to do your research. Good luck!
