Are tulips tricky to plant?
Tulips are easy to grow. Work in good organic compost into your soil to insure good drainage & nutrients. You can also add sand for better drainage. Tulips like full sun but can be planted in light shade, as long as the plant gets enough sun. You can plant them under trees that loose their leaves in the fall, because there will be enough sun for the tulips to produce blooms in the spring. Plant pointed side up. Smaller bulbs are not planted as deeply as larger bulbs. Bulbs are usually planted 4 times as deep as it is wide. A two inch wide daffodil is planted 8 inches deep. A 1/2 inch wide crocus is planted 2 inches deep.
