Are trumpet mouthpieces the same as cornet mouthpieces?

I am not a trumpet play but I have experience with the brass band. As far as I know, the shank of cornet mouthpieces are smaller, both in length and in bore of the shank. I also believe that the cup is deeper then a standard trumpet mouthpiece. For your question I would think no, because cornet mouthpieces are too small. You would need an adapter in order for that to work.
