Are tropical oils, like palm oil, harmful?
It has been shown that “a palm-oil enriched diet does not raise blood cholesterol levels, and in some studies lowers blood cholesterol levels.” (Source: “Health, Nutrition & Palm Oil”, Nutrition Advisory Committee, 1989.) All types of fat, however, should be limited in your diet. It is recommended by the Dietary Guidelines that no more than 30% of calories consist of fat. For example, a 2,000 calorie diet should consist of no more than 65 grams of fat. Chicken flavored Cup Noodles, which contains 12 grams of fat, can easily be integrated into a balanced diet.
