Possibly, but I find it unlikely. They probably just use faster-growing varieties. Some types of trees grow to 30 ft or so in 5 years or less. Forcing a plant’s growth weakens it and makes it more prone to disease and bugs, not a good thing in most crops, especially in trees, which are supposed to live a long time.
