Definitely not! Tonemapping is really just a small subset of what HDR files are all about and how they are used. Unfortunately, because of some of the bad tonemapping examples posted on popular internet websites like Flickr.com, many people are mistakenly being misled about the benefits of high dynamic range imaging.
